KIRSTEN ORSBORN AGE 15 YRS.
Kirsten Orsborn age 15yrs, she has been singing since the age of 4,
Kirsten has appeared in many things from stage to TV and she performed in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Grand Theatre Swansea. She was also very proud to perform alongside Tommy Steele in Doctor Doolittle at the New Theatre Cardiff. Kirsten has done many shows for various different charities including, Help the Heroes, Childline Cymru, Cancer Research, Cerebral palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, epilepsy, Loughor Lifeboat appeal, Wales Air Ambulance, Morriston Hospital Head Injury Department, and many more. Several of these are close to her heart as I (her mother) have epilepsy and my brother, (Kirsten’s uncle) died from it. Kirsten’s dad has a head injury and Morriston Hospital saved his life, her nana sadly passed away from the battle with cancer, so these things are really important to her, and Kirsten feels blessed that she can give something back with her talent and love for singing.
Kirsten is currently studying for her grade 6 singing exam for the London Academy of Music, and is also studying music, singing and drama GCSE amongst other subjects at her comprehensive school. She is also in the school choir and chamber choir. As she finishes school for good this june Kirsten is hoping to take her music career much further, in recording writing more songs and performing all over the world with a bit of luck.
Kirsten won Search for a Star in 2007 in Penyrheol Theatre Gorseinon, she has won Best All Round Performer in 2008 with Mark Jermin drama school where she attended for 6 years, then in 2009 went on to win Kids Got Talent Cymru, part of the prize was to sing at St David’s Hall Cardiff.
Kirsten in 2010 performed in the show Gleek which is a spin off from the programme Glee and really enjoyed playing the part of Lucy. Kirsten has done many acting parts as well as her singing. These include a comedy series on BBC 3 called Rush Hour starring Miranda Hart and an Environmental Corporate Video for our planet.
Kirsten is really proud to have launched a Charity CD for Epilepsy, called These Wonderful Souls. This was made with four other singers; one of them is her brother Darren. All funds from this album went to epilepsy funds. Darren was one of the reasons Kirsten at the age of 6 got up to sing on to a bigger stage and she has never looked back since, so it’s many thanks to Darren for encouraging her.
Kirsten was very proud to be chosen to receive the club land award from the Seaside Social in Port Talbot for the Best Up and coming Female Vocalist of the Year 2010.
We were all really proud when Kirsten helped to launch the new Loughor Lifeboat and sang our Welsh National Anthem, with many dignitaries being there it was a very proud moment for us all and emotional to see the lifeboat being launched.
Kirsten has recorded a demo disc, which include 4 of her favourite songs which are; Dance With My Father, Reflection, The Way We Were and Don’t Stop Believing.
We were all thrilled for Kirsten for reaching the final of Music All Youth 2010 in Cambridge, and enjoyed the whole event with many good reviews and she recorded a single at there studio with all the finalists which was lovely for them.
Kirsten also joined ReverbNation music site and within the 1st week shot to no1 in there charts with dance with my father. www.reverbnation.co.uk/kirstenorsborn7 and she has not moved from no1 she is still there over a year ago.
Also wants put onto the IMN radio network in LA and again shot up to no2 and stayed there for 4 weeks then after that has stayed in the top 20 of there charts since last October and its now end march the song we entered was dance with my father and we were then thrilled to find out that they had nominated her for the IMN teen radio music award.
Kirsten was thrilled to win star sensations 2011 and have now been asked to be there ambassador and new face for Wales for star sensations for Wales, as they feel she will be a great inspiration to other singers. Kirsten has also since recorded a song with star sensations called one more step, and will be performing this at the final of star sensations 2012 where she has also been asked to be a judge. Kirsten also won singer of the year 2011 at a competition organized by her school she was pleased to have the chance to show her school her talent.
Since this Kirsten has also appeared in the millennium center Cardiff as a solo singer, before the show Oliver, it was an amazing experience for her. And would love to appear in many places like this again in the future.
Also has performed with the Cefn season school choir and chamber choir at the st David’s hall Swansea, with the bbc national orchestra an evening Kirsten will always remember.
Kirsten was honored when she was asked to sing three songs at the opening of our new rebuild of the Gwyn hall Neath as it had burned down 2yrs ago, the opening was a prestigious event and Kirsten sang a solo Eva casedy over the rainbow, an ensemble with 2 other friends we’ve only just began and a song with 8 girls in her chamber choir.
Kirsten was lucky to have a great experience with a writer from Canada and recorded a full album one of the songs called a tribute to fallen heroes is now being donated to the royal British legion which Kirsten is very proud of. And the evening of the launch for the album all funds raised Kirsten donated to epilepsy bereaved in memory of her uncle michael my brother.
Kirsten was honored to be asked to perform for the armed forces day in Sunderland last year and was the guest star, it was an amazing day and was called the troops sweetheart and made front page news, she is proud to announce she has been invited back this time to perform for the whole weekend and to perform the national anthem at the display of the troops flags so they must have loved her last year to have her back again that is such a wonderful feeling Kirsten says to know your wanted again and again.
Kirsten have since the age of 11yrs always entertained the O.A.P”s at day centers and residential homes and go there regularly to see them and entertain them they all love her to bites and love to see her coming what she’s wearing what her hairs like they just adore her. And Kirsten will never forget them.
Kirsten has now been spotted some writers in London Andy Ross and mark Gilbert and they are writing some songs for Kirsten which is lovely and we are hoping to go to London at Easter to record some new songs to have some more variety to her portfolio.
Also Kirsten’s brace will be off by June so are having a new photo shoot as soon as its removed all in time for when she leaves school.
Kirsten would like to have a future in music and hopefully one day her dream will come true.
In July 2011, 14 year old Kirsten Orsborn from South Wales won the Star Sensations Little Stars Final, beating the other very talented Under 17 Contestants. Crowned Little Star 2011, Kirsten was presented with a trophy, a cheque for £500 and a Record Deal, courtesy of Ispirato Music.
Over the past several months many people, including Kirsten herself, have been writing the song, writing the lyrics, recording and mastering with Kirsten.
All this hard work has paid off, and the single ‘One More Step’, written by Terri Kemp (Tailor Made Music) & Helena Mace, recorded by Ispirato Music, with the sleeve design by Grant James, and performed by Kirsten Orsborn, is set for release around May 2012.
Kirsten, now 15 Years old and also a guest Judge at this years Star Sensations Little Stars Final, accidently found her voice at the very tender age of 6 years old after breaking her leg! Boredom set in and she was soon singing along to music at home. below are a few words from her family…
“Darren, her brother, was taking part in charity shows doing stand up comedy at the time,” Karen, her mother, says.
“He wanted Kirsten to sing on stage with him at a show. Although she was a little reluctant and nervous she did it and really enjoyed it — since then she has never looked back.”
