Bonnie Langford - Tribute
Lena Zavaroni was my school friend and 'performing' friend. We shared a bond that very few get the privilege to understand... 'show business as a young person', with all it's thrills and spills!
We connected as school friends who would go to Brent Cross Shopping Centre one day and then go to the studios to record our own TV show the next. It's sounds extraordinary, but to us it was completely normal. We would laugh, empathise, support and encourage one another, just as young friends do.
Lena was fun, insecure and yet determined....and had the most incredible talent - to sing. She loved it, it was her salvation. Her voice was not only exquisite in tone, texture and volume, but it spoke so richly and deeply...that's what audiences connected with.
I so wish she was remembered for her talent and not the tragedy that surrounded her in her latter years. But her voice will live on ...Lena was brilliant and always will be, to me.
Thank you Bonnie for sharing your tribute to Lena with me and for sending me the beautiful photo of yourself! These tributes are very special and mean the absolute world to me, so 'Thank you' everyone!
